TERMS AND CONDITIONS

It is your responsibility ensure you are familiar with the current Terms and Conditions.

The Studio is a relaxed and friendly environment, but we do need some rules in order for our classes to run safely and efficiently. By booking or attending a session, class or workshop and by using any of our services you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions. Kelly Moore Ceramics may at any time modify these Terms and Conditions. By continuing to use the services after changes are made, you agree to be bound by such changes.

GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING

  • Please note the start and end time for your session and be aware that tutors have a short window to ensure that the studio is prepared for the next session and other responsibilities around the studio.

  • Ceramics is not an exact science. Results can vary and can be unpredictable.

  • Please be aware that if you decide not to return after a course, or choose to take a term out, we will only be able store your work for one month.

EQUIPMENT & WORKSPACES

  • Please ensure any tools you have used are cleaned and put back where they belong.

  • Please make sure that you clean your workspace when you have finished your session and leave it how you would like to find it.

  • Please do not remove any tools, books or other equipment from the studio.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Students use the studio at their own risk and must be aware of the inherent hazards of a working pottery studio environment.  These risks include the use of sharp tools, exposure to chemicals and high temperatures amongst other things. Please note that we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing or loss of valuables. A full risk assessment is available at the studio.

  • Please wear appropriate clothing, including suitable ‘closed toe’ shoes.

  • Bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothing.

  • Please bring your own towel if you like to use one when using a wheel.

  • Please speak to a member of staff if you need use of a first aid kit.

  • Sanding and fettling should always be done outside.

  • Eating and drinking at the studio is done so at your own risk.

  • Always clean with a damp sponge/cloth and do not sweep as clay dust can be bad for your health.

  • The extruder handle should always be removed after use.

  • Always wear gloves when using oxides and do not use if you are pregnant (it is important that you inform staff if you are pregnant).

  • There is no unauthorised entry to the kiln area.

  • The meeting point in the event of an evacuation from the studio is in the car park.

GLAZING

  • Check with staff before double-dipping or combining glazes.

  • Please make sure that the bases of your work are well wiped and free from any glaze.

FIRED WORK

  • The studio reserves the right not to fire work that has the potential to damage other people’s work or damage our equipment.

  • We do not offer a firing service for work produced outside of the studio.

  • In some courses firing costs are included, please read the booking information carefully.

  • For the 8 week courses work 15x15cm and smaller is included in costs.

  • There is a firing fee for medium to large pieces based on weight and size. Please contact me for more details.

STUDENT WORK

The communal nature of the studio means there is a chance that your work may get damaged between loading firings. Of course we take a lot of care to prevent this - but, unfortunately, accidents can happen. Due to the delicate and uncertain nature of ceramics, you will not be eligible for any refund in the aforementioned circumstances.

Please leave your work to be fired on the labelled shelving and avoid moving and/or touching others' work.

  • Please be very careful when moving your work or looking for your project. Do not pick up work that doesn’t belong to you.

  • Wrapped bags contain fragile student work.

  • Any work that has not been bisque fired is extremely delicate.

  • Please be aware that if you decide not to return after a course, or choose to take a term out, we will only be able store your work for one month.

CATCH-UP POLICY

Catch up classes are only available for ‘8 week block’ classes.

We offer a catch-up service for any missed classes within an 8 week block booking. We only have capacity for a small number of catch-up students per session, and catch-ups are not available in all of our sessions, so advance booking is always required. In order to book a catch-up students must speak to a member of staff. Any catch-up sessions must be taken within the term the class was missed - we cannot carry over any catch-up sessions into another term.

CANCELLATIONS

We reserve the right to cancel or change the date of a course where necessary or it is impractical for a course to run. A full refund will be issued in this instance. We reserve the right to make amendments to the class tutor or content without notice.  It is your responsibility to inform us in advance of any allergies or special requirements.

If you cancel with two or more weeks notice from the course start date, a full refund will be issued.

If you cancel with less than two weeks notice of the course start date, we will issue a partial refund. This will be calculated as 50% of the course fee and it will not be possible to defer the payment to another term. If you decide not to attend or to complete the course after the term has started no refund will be issued.

We may close our premises for reasonable periods of time to carry out essential maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, or for other reasons outside of our control at our discretion and with reasonable notice. We will endeavour to reopen facilities as soon as possible in these circumstances. Ceramics equipment needs to be serviced regularly and have minor repair works done in order to keep them in working order. This may, on occasion, cause a delay in the usual time frame for firing. You will not be eligible for any refund for the temporary interruption in services during these periods.
